1 Peter 3:13-22

Jenna, Alyssa, and Mark are leading this week.

Undeserved Suffering
13 And who will harm[a] you if you are deeply committed to what is good?[b] 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear or be disturbed,[c] 15 but honor[d]the Messiah[e] as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason[f] for the hope that is in you. 16 However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear,[g][h] so that when you are accused,[i] those who denounce your Christian life[j] will be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will,[k] than for doing evil.

18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all,[l]
the righteous for the unrighteous,[m]
that He might bring you[n] to God,
after being put to death in the fleshly realm[o]
but made alive in the spiritual realm.[p]
the righteous for the unrighteous,[m] that He might bring you[n] to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm[o] but made alive in the spiritual realm.[p]

the righteous for the unrighteous,[m] that He might bring you[n] to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm[o] but made alive in the spiritual realm.[p] the righteous for the unrighteous,[m] that He might bring you[n] to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm[o] but made alive in the spiritual realm.[p] the righteous for the unrighteous,[m] that He might bring you[n] to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm[o] but made alive in the spiritual realm.[p]
19 In that state[q] He also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison[r] 20 who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah while an ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people[s]—were saved through water. 21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the pledge[t] of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 22 Now that He has gone into heaven, He is at God’s right hand with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.

1 Peter 3:8-12

TJ is up this week

Do No EvilNow finally, all of you should be like-minded and sympathetic, should love believers,[a] and be compassionate and humble,[b] not paying back evil for evil or insult for insult but, on the contrary, giving a blessing, since you were called for this, so that you can inherit a blessing.10 For the one who wants to love life and to see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit,11 and he must turn away from evil and do what is good. He must seek peace and pursue it,12 because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their request. But the face of the Lord is against those who do what is evil.[cand to see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit, 11 and he must turn away from evil and do what is good. He must seek peace and pursue it, 12 because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their request. But the face of the Lord is against those who do what is evil.[c]

1 Peter 3:1-7

Jenna and Alyssa are up this week

In the same way, wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, even if some disobey the Christian message, they may be won over[a] without a message by the way their wives live when they observe your pure, reverent lives. Your beauty should not consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold ornaments[b] or fine clothes. Instead, it should consist of what is inside[c] the heart with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very valuable in God’s eyes. For in the past, the holy women who put their hope in God also beautified themselves in this way, submitting to their own husbands, just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You have become her children when you do what is good and are not frightened by anything alarming.
Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives with an understanding of their weaker nature[d] yet showing them honor as coheirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

Questions
1.       How do wives submit to their husbands? A
2.       How do we submit to something? J
3.       How can you win over a spouse? J
4.       Should we care about how we look? A
5.       Why should we have a gentle quiet spirit? A
6.       What does it mean to live with our wives with understanding and show honor to them? A

1 Peter 2:18-25

TJ and Andrea are reading this week.  Here is the verse and the questions.

Submission of Slaves to Masters

18 Household slaves, submit with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel. 19 For it brings favor[b] if, mindful of God’s will, someone endures grief from suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is there if you sin and are punished, and you endure it? But when you do what is good and suffer, if you endure it, this brings favor with God.21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example,so that you should follow in His steps.22 He did not commit sin,and no deceit was found in His mouth, 23 when He was reviled,He did not revile in return;when He was suffering,He did not threatenbut entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly.24 He Himself bore our sinsin His body on the tree,so that, having died to sins,we might live for righteousness;you have been healed by His wounds.[f]25 For you were like sheep going astray,[g]but you have now returnedto the Shepherd and Guardian[h] of your souls.

1. Who are the household slaves? A
2. What does the message Peter is trying to say in verse 18? T
3. What does verse 20 mean? Not learning, Learning. T
4. What does bore mean? A
5. How can Jesus' examples help you when you face hardships you cannot change? T
6. Is a friend you know facing a hardship?  How can you help? T

11 Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you.[a] 12 Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles,[b] so that in a case where they speak against you as those who do what is evil, they will, by observing your good works, glorify God on the day of visitation.[c]13 Submit to every human authority[d] because of the Lord, whether to the Emperor[e] as the supreme authority 14 or to governors as those sent out by him to punish those who do what is evil and to praise those who do what is good. 15 For it is God’s will that you silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good. 16 As God’s slaves, live as free people, but don’t use your freedom as a way to conceal evil. 17 Honor everyone.
