Luke 1:26-38

Luke 1: 26-38

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings,[d] favored woman! The Lord is with you![e]”
29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”
34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month.37 For the word of God will never fail.[g]”
38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
Mimi
1. What did the angels say to Mary to tell her she was going to have a baby and how did she respond to it?
A: Do not be afraid, Mary you have found favor with God. Mary questioned by saying” But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
2. How will the word of God never fail?
A: God said that Jesus was going to be born, and he was born. God never lies.
Hannah
3. Why does Gabriel call Mary a favored woman?
A: God calls Mary a favored woman because she is the mother of Jesus. Mary believes in God, so the lord will always be with her.
4. What does the angel mean when he says, ”The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.”?
A: The angel means that Mary will be watched over by God. She was blessed with Jesus, and God will help her with the birth.

Gianna
5.  In verse 38, why does Mary say, “I am the Lord’s servant, ”and how will she be serving the Lord?
A:  Mary says, “I am the Lord’s servant,” because Gabriel, an Angel from God, went down to Nazareth to tell Mary that she will be doing a big favor for God, which she could get made fun of.  Mary will be serving the Lord by carrying Jesus for nine months straight.

6.  Why do you think that Mary was so confident in having a child before she was married?
A:  Mary’s confidence was a big deal.  Mary was willing to endure shame just to bring God’s son to life.  She didn’t question what the Angel or God said, but accepted it.  She trusted that God’s word will never fail.

Prayer

Dear God,
I pray that everyone does good on their tests.  Please help all the people that need your blessings.  Thank you for Mr. Alfaro, Mrs.Drake, and Mr. Beaty.  Watch over everyone during Thanksgiving Break, and I pray for safe travels.

Luke 1:1-25

FCA Questions-Luke 1:1-25
Luke 1:1-25 (NLT)
Introduction:
Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. 2 They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples.[a] 3 Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, 4 so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.
The Birth of John the Baptist Foretold
5 When Herod was king of Judea, there was a Jewish priest named Zechariah. He was a member of the priestly order of Abijah, and his wife, Elizabeth, was also from the priestly line of Aaron. 6 Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God’s eyes, careful to obey all of the Lord’s commandments and regulations. 7 They had no children because Elizabeth was unable to conceive, and they were both very old.
8 One day Zechariah was serving God in the Temple, for his order was on duty that week. 9 As was the custom of the priests, he was chosen by lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense. 10 While the incense was being burned, a great crowd stood outside, praying.
11 While Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the incense altar. 12 Zechariah was shaken and overwhelmed with fear when he saw him. 13 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John. 14 You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.[b] 16 And he will turn many Israelites to the Lord their God. 17 He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children,[c] and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.”
18 Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.”
19 Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! 20 But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.”
21 Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah to come out of the sanctuary, wondering why he was taking so long. 22 When he finally did come out, he couldn’t speak to them. Then they realized from his gestures and his silence that he must have seen a vision in the sanctuary.
23 When Zechariah’s week of service in the Temple was over, he returned home. 24 Soon afterward his wife, Elizabeth, became pregnant and went into seclusion for five months. 25 “How kind the Lord is!” she exclaimed. “He has taken away my disgrace of having no children.”
Luke 1:1-25 Questions
1: Q: Why was the angel specific in saying that John shall never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks?
A: John was to be filled with the Holy Spirit,God does not want him to be distracted, and He wants him to be focused on preparing for the coming of the Lord.

2:Q: What did the angel do to Zechariah when Zechariah didn’t believe him?
A: The angel took away Zechariah’s ability to speak until the child was born because he did not believe that his wife, Elizabeth, was going to have a baby.

3:Q: Why was Elizabeth so excited about having a baby?
A: She was excited because she had tried to have a baby before and was unable to. She was happy that she would no longer be disgraced.

4:Q: Why didn’t Zechariah believe the angel, Gabriel?
A: Zechariah didn’t believe the angel because he and his wife, Elizabeth, were already too old to have children, but God had great plans for them.

5:Q: Why was Zechariah to name the child John?
A: He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, and he will be in great eyes of the Lord.
Summary:

A: No; he is spiritually there with them because he is in their hearts.

Q: How can we persuade one another to love and do good deeds?
A: To introduce those who haven’t been introduced to Christianity yet, so they can be more like Jesus and have a pure heart.
Q: How can we encourage others to learn about Christ?
A: We can pray with them and invite them to church and other Christian events.

1John 1:3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

Q: What does it mean to publicly announce what you’ve seen and heard?

Summary:
Fellowship is one of the hubs on the wheel of Christian obedience. We should have fellowship with Christ, and other believers and we should spread the word about Jesus. And we should also invite non-believers to Christian events and guide them toward god. In the verse Matthew 18:20 it tells us that we should gather in groups to learn about god and he shall be there with us. In Hebrews 10:24-25 it tells us to spur one another to do god's will. And finally in John 1:3 it says to proclaim what you've seen and heard so we can have Fellowship with God and Jesus.
