Galatians 5:1-15

Galatians 5 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
Freedom of the Christian
5 Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery. 2 Take note! I, Paul, tell you that if you get yourselves circumcised, Christ will not benefit you at all. 3 Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to keep the entire law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace. 5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.
7 You were running well. Who prevented you from obeying the truth?8 This persuasion did not come from the One who called you. 9 A little yeast leavens the whole lump of dough. 10 I have confidence in the Lord you will not accept any other view. But whoever it is that is confusing you will pay the penalty. 11 Now brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. 12 I wish those who are disturbing you might also get themselves castrated!
13 For you were called to be free, brothers; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.14 For the entire law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.[a] 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another
  1. Why does Paul want us to take notes?
A.                 He want us to takes notes because when this someday happens to you, you will know the answer to what Paul is trying to say.
                 2.  Why does Paul say “Christ will be of no value to you at all”?
A.                 If we are trying to save ourselves and think that we can, we are not accepting that Christ is our only path to be saved.
                 3.    What does Paul mean by “fallen from grace” in verse 4?
A.                 Paul means that you have come down to earth to teach people about the Lord. He wants us to share the gospel.
                 4.    How are we saved?
A.                 We are saved by our faith, not by the deeds we do.
                5.     What does it mean in verse 9?
A.                 It means it only takes one wrong person to infect all the others.
                6.     What should we look at in others?
A.                 Often believers lose the motivation of love, and become critical of others. We stop looking for the good in them and see only their faults. Remind yourself of Jesus’ command to love others as you love yourself.

Summary

What Paul is trying to say is that the Lord wants you to follow the law were alienated from Christ and have fallen for grace.  He wants you to hope and wait for righteousness and work for faith.  As it said in paragraph 2,”Who prevented you from obeying the truth? This persuasion did not come from the one who called you.”  What Paul is trying to say is that your bad decisions did not come  from what the Lord was trying to do. The Lord lead you toward the better decision in that situation. Paul is trying to say that it doesn’t matter if you are circumcision or uncircumcision does not matter, but what does matter is that you love what you have and favor what you don’t have.

Dear Lord,
I pray that everyone does great on their tests and wish everyone good luck for for softball, baseball, and volleyball. Remember you can always serve each other with love. You can also invite people to pray with you or your family so they can get to know about Christ.  Thank you to Mr. Alfaro and Mrs. Drake for always helping making FCA the best it can be. Help us be lights on our campus and have a great friday.

                                  In Jesus’ name we pray,

                                           Amen
